Enjoying stunning panoramic views over Chesil Cove, this three-storey fresh and attractive mid-terrace Victorian holiday cottage is an ideal base for a family looking to discover the beautiful Isle of Portland.
Situated on a one-way street, the house enjoys panoramic views over Chesil Cove to Clay Ope and Chesil Beach. Reached via a causeway from Weymouth, the Isle of Portland is steeped in maritime history and has plenty to see and do. Portland Harbour is home to a 16th-century coastal fort, or you could visit the famous Portland Bill Lighthouse. You can explore the pirates’ graveyard, Church Ope Cove – a former smugglers’ hideout or visit the Castletown D-Day Centre. Portland has several quarries to discover and a host of wildlife to observe – Peregrine Falcons can be spotted round Portland and along the cliffs, or try and spot dolphins in the waters surrounding the island. Portland Harbour is also famous for its sailing and water sports being home to the National Sailing Academy and was the site of the sailing events for the 2012 Olympic Games. Heading north onto the mainland you can visit the popular seaside town of Weymouth (5 miles), Lulworth Cove (20 miles) and Abbotsbury (12 miles). You can also take a drive along the Jurassic Coast road to West Bay (20 miles)
Seven steps lead up to the hall where there’s space for boots and coats, and which leads into the light and comfortable lounge/diner. This is a relaxing space, with plenty of seating, a wood burner and a bay window with wonderful sea views. There’s also a delightful dining area, perfect for enjoying a family meal. The galley-style kitchen with French doors to the courtyard is equipped with a double oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dryer and microwave. Moving up to the first floor you will find a second lounge with a Victorian-style feature fireplace, TV/DVD, iPod dock, oak floor and a bay window offering sea views. The property also has a twin room which can be made up into a double room on request. The first floor features a shower room with WC, and a bathroom with a bath, separate shower and WC. Going up to the second floor you will find two further bedrooms: a twin and a double with sea views.
Heading outside, you can relax in the small courtyard garden which is enclosed by stone walls and features pots, baskets and outdoor furniture. Off-road parking is available for one car, with additional parking in the street.
