Burn Bank Cottage
Belford
Northumberland

Enjoying wonderful open country views and situated on the edge of a working farm, with a beautiful stretch of Northumberland coastline not far away, this holiday cottage has plenty of room inside and out to socialise with loved ones or find tranquil time alone. The old coaching village of Belford, 1.5 miles away, has all the necessary amenities, including shops and pubs.

For a more bustling town, Berwick-upon-Tweed (16.5 miles) is a must-visit, with plenty of places to shop and eat, as well as music and theatre at the Maltings. Berwick is famous for being a town that has changed hands between England and Scotland numerous times, and you can still see this history in the defensive walls around the town. Walking on the walls makes for a pretty exploration of the town and you can also follow part of the Lowry Trail as you go. Visitors to this cottage are spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches: there are beautiful sands at Berwick-upon-Tweed all the way down to Dunstanburgh (19 miles). Bamburgh (7.5 miles) and Dunstanburgh are popular for their castles while Lindisfarne (13.5 miles) is an exciting day out, not only because of its rich and fascinating history, but also because it can be reached either via the causeway (tide dependant) or by boat.

This welcoming property, is packed with rural charm. Steps lead up to the front door into a small porch. Step down into the galley kitchen which features a tiled floor, exposed brickwork and beams harking back to the building’s past, while the cosy lounge has a warming wood burner in a gorgeous, exposed brick fireplace. With comfy seating, a TV and a selection of artwork adorning the walls, this is the real heart of the cottage. This leads through to the dining area in the impressive conservatory, where you can sit and enjoy the scenery no matter the weather. The vaulted ceiling and large windows add character to this space, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy sociable meals. Double doors lead out to the patio area. Two comfortable bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – are a rustic delight, with wooden furniture and pops of colour. The larger bedroom benefits from a shower room, and a chic and contemporary family bathroom completes the layout.

The conservatory French doors open out into the garden which has a patio and lawn, and looks out over open countryside. This is a great space to steal a tranquil moment alone or to have the whole group together, socialising and dining on the patio. There is a shed for extra storage of bikes or other leisure gear.
