Take a trip to the childhood home of famous poet William Wordsworth and explore the beautiful gardens which offer a peaceful retreat from the busy town centre. Cockermouth has an abundance of local shops, art galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Pack your hiking boots and explore the lakes of Bassenthwaite, Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater, all within a 11-mile radius. Animal lovers will enjoy a trip to Lake District Wildlife Park (7 miles) whilst thrill seekers will love Whinlatter Forest (7 miles) where you can Go Ape or hire bikes to explore the forest trails. The popular market town of Keswick is only 14 miles where you can hire a boat or take a cruise on Derwentwater to enjoy the stunning scenery of the fells.

Another set of steep spiral stairs lead to the third floor which houses a twin bedroom (available on request) with original low beams, perfect for those wanting a floor to themselves.
